Welcome to the third annual McDonald’s Tampa Hoops Classic presented by Regions Bank. This basketball tournament features some of the best high school teams and players throughout the country. We have sixteen schools represented from across Florida, New York, Virginia, Louisiana, Texas, and New Jersey. Many of these teams are home to the top players in the U.S. The vision for this tournament has much in common with basketball - a sport that cannot be played alone and is dependent upon the success of the team working well together. Two years ago, a few local businessmen sharing a passion for basketball put together a Steering Committee of seven. They thought, “Wouldn’t it be great if we could bring top ranked high school teams to Tampa to share their talents and skills on the court?” Through their diligent planning, this is our second year of exciting competition. If you are here to compete in these games - for taking part in this event; we honor your dedication and perseverance to perfecting your skills. Competition sharpens talent. Whether you win or lose these next four days, we hope you leave fulfilled by having squared-off with the best of your peers. Henry Clay once said, “Of all human powers operating on the affairs of mankind, none is greater than that of competition.” When we win - we teach others how to win. when we lose - we learn from it and grow. Play well, play hard, play fair, and go home satisfied with your performance. To the coaches, families, and fans of our competitors - thanks for supporting the great sport of basketball. We hope you enjoy the high level of play that you will witness over the course of these next six days.
